Disney Polynesian Island Tower - Now Open

Disney’s Polynesian Resort Unveils Stunning New Island Tower

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has long been a favorite for those seeking a tropical escape within the magic of Walt Disney World. Now, the resort’s latest addition, the Island Tower, elevates the experience to new heights. This stunning new development combines luxurious accommodations with immersive Polynesian-inspired decor and artwork, making it a must-visit destination for Disney fans and travelers alike.

A New Jewel in the Polynesian Crown

The Island Tower stands tall as an architectural marvel, seamlessly blending modern design with traditional Polynesian aesthetics. The exterior features cascading greenery, intricate wood carvings, and lava stone accents, evoking the natural beauty of the islands. At night, the building’s soft, warm lighting creates a tranquil ambiance, perfectly capturing the magic of a tropical paradise.

Inside the Tower: Decor and Design

Step into the Island Tower, and you’ll be greeted by an interior that pays homage to the rich cultures of Polynesia. The lobby is a sensory delight, with its grand open spaces, hand-carved wooden panels, and vibrant tropical motifs. Guests will notice the use of natural materials like bamboo, rattan, and stone, creating an authentic island feel. I was there during the holidays so it was even more beautiful.

Key design elements include:

  • Ceiling Installations: Eye-catching chandeliers reminiscent of Polynesian outrigger canoes, adorned with shells and woven details.

  • Wall Art: Stunning murals depicting traditional Polynesian scenes, including voyaging canoes, lush landscapes, and cultural festivals.

  • Furniture: Comfortable seating with bold patterns inspired by traditional tapa cloth designs.

The Art of Polynesia

The Island Tower showcases a curated collection of Polynesian art, blending historical pieces with contemporary interpretations. Throughout the building, you’ll find:

  • Handcrafted Sculptures: Carvings of sea life, and sculptures each with unique expressions and stories.

  • Paintings and Prints: Vibrant works by artists who celebrate Polynesian culture, featuring themes of family, nature, and community.

Rooms and options

The guest rooms in the Island Tower are a perfect balance of luxury and thematic immersion. Each room features:

  • Plush bedding with tropical patterns and vibrant colors.

  • Artistic headboards inspired by island flora and fauna.

  • Balconies or patios offering stunning views of the resort’s lush gardens or the sparkling Seven Seas Lagoon.

There is an exclusive lounge area for Tower guests, a rooftop deck with panoramic views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks, and direct access to the resort’s monorail station for easy transportation!

Dining with a Tropical Twist

Guests staying in the Island Tower can enjoy dining experiences that bring the flavors of Polynesia to life. The new dining venue, Wailulu Bar & Grill, offers a menu featuring Polynesian-inspired dishes including sticky pork ribs and poke bowls. Yum! They also offer tropical fruits, and island-inspired cocktails. The decor mirrors the Tower’s theme, with open-air seating, and views of the lagoon.

There is first come first serve seating by the pool at the walk up entrance. I tried to get a spot on the inside and at the walk up entrance but there was a 40 minute wait for the inside and no seating outside. I would have stayed but unfortunately I had to catch my bus back to Disney Springs to get home.

Amenities

The Island Tower adds to the resort’s already impressive pool offerings with enhanced aquatic experiences. Guests can enjoy:

  • The Cove Pool: A zero-entry pool with a sandy beach, hot tub, and views of the Seven Seas Lagoon.

  • Moana’s Voyage Splash pad: A playful area with water jets and interactive features perfect for young guests. Moana is strategically placed so that she is facing the Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom. How cool is that?!

  • Lawn games: There are a few games for kids to play on the lawn such as life-size chess and corn hole.

Fitness Center: Located across from the Moana splash pad and Cove Pool is the resorts first fitness center. Towels as well as cold towels are available for guests and can be returned there as well. If you get thirsty while you’re working out, there is free coconut water. If you prefer regular water, there is a water bottle filler as well. The fitness center is available 24 hours a day for all registered guests only as with all of the amenities.

In conclusion

I will definitely be booking a room here for 2025. Will you??
